Ask a machine tool rebuilder about "Turcite B" and the first thing they picture is a blue liner. Blue is the color most associated with this class of PTFE-based slideway material — so much so that the name is used generically even though Turcite and Slydway are registered trademarks of a well-known sealing company. In practice, replacement liners are supplied in several colors, and buyers frequently ask whether the color changes the material.
Why liner color matters in the workshop
- Color identifies material series and grade — manufacturers use different colors to separate product families and formulations on the shelf.
- Color supports visual tracking — on the workshop floor, a colored liner makes thickness or batch changes easy to spot after fitting.
- Color is the language of ordering — giving a supplier "Blue, 200 mm wide, 1.6 mm thick" is enough to specify the material without ambiguity.
The four TEBAK colors and what they share
TEBAK SLIDEWAY liner is available in Blue, Green, Brown and Brick Red. All four colors belong to the same SLIDEWAY series: one skived PTFE-based compound, the same low-friction and load-bearing profile, and the same etched bonding surface. The color is a visual identifier — it does not change friction or load performance. Where the colors do differ is the stock width each is cut in, so your choice is usually driven by availability and your own workshop convention rather than by performance.

How to order by color
When you send an inquiry, state the color, width and thickness — for example "Blue, 200 mm wide, 1.6 mm thick, 5 metres". If you are matching an existing liner, tell us the color and dimensions of what is fitted now, or send a photo and a drawing. Blue and Brick Red are also stocked in 305 mm width, a common import-standard dimension; other widths are produced on request.
- Match the color to your current liner when appearance or traceability matters.
- Choose width by the way surface — see our sheets & strips sizing guide for measurement steps.
- Send a sample or drawing with your inquiry for OEM and non-standard sizes.
Common questions about liner colors
- Does color affect friction or load capacity? No — those properties come from the PTFE-based compound, and all four TEBAK colors share the same formulation.
- Is Blue better than the other colors? Blue is simply the most widely recognized color for this material class. Select by stock width and your own convention.
- Can colors be mixed on one machine? Within the same series, yes — but keeping one color per machine makes future thickness and batch checks easier.
