A sample is useful only when it answers the questions your production order will depend on. For a Turcite B replacement, compare the sample with the actual way dimensions, finished thickness, bonding-side orientation and cut format before discussing a larger quantity. This keeps a small sample from becoming an unverified assumption about the final material.
Start with the specification you need to approve
Write the required color, width, thickness, total length and piece count before opening the sample. TEBAK slideway liner is supplied in Blue, Green, Brown and Brick Red, with standard widths including 100, 200 and 300 mm; Blue and Brick Red are also listed at 305 mm. The available thickness range is 0.8–3.2 mm on the product specifications. If the sample is not marked clearly, record its measured values instead of treating the supplier description as the final cut list.
| Sample check | What to record | Decision before production |
|---|---|---|
| Color and product identity | Color, supplier reference and intended machine part | Approve only when the identity matches the inquiry |
| Width and thickness | Measured dimensions in mm and measurement method | Confirm the value leaves the required machining allowance |
| Bonding side | Etched side clearly identified and protected | Do not approve an unmarked orientation |
| Surface and edges | Creases, contamination, tears or edge damage | Hold the sample if handling damage could affect fitting |
| Cut format | Roll, sheet or cut strip; piece dimensions | Match the production cut list and packing request |
Confirm the bonding side before any workshop trial
The sample should have a smooth PTFE-based running face and a chemically etched side prepared for bonding. The etched side is the interface for the adhesive; it is not the running surface. Keep the sample clean and protected while checking it. If you plan a workshop trial, pair the liner with the specified TEBAK Two-Part Epoxy-Adhesive and document which face was used, rather than relying on color or memory.
Match the sample to the way and finished geometry
A sample can look correct and still be unsuitable if its thickness does not fit the repair allowance. Compare it with your measured worn way and the required finished center height. The TEBAK liner specification lists a maximum pressure load for 1% deformation of 930 N/cm2 and a hardness of 60 Shore D; these are product data points for technical review, not a substitute for checking the actual load area and machine geometry. Use the slideway wear measurement guide before approving the final thickness.
Check the order format, not only the material
- Confirm whether the production order needs a full roll, flat sheet or individual cut strips.
- State the finished width, thickness, length and quantity for every machine part.
- Ask how the etched side, color and part number will be identified after cutting.
- Confirm protective packing for the chosen roll or cut-piece format.
- Ask the supplier to review the drawing or cut list before production starts.
For a first order, it is usually more useful to approve a documented sample against a cut list than to approve a loose piece by appearance. If the sample is intended for a specific retrofit, include the machine type, way location and delivery country in the inquiry. The Turcite B inquiry checklist shows the information needed for a comparable quotation, while the Blue TEBAK slideway liner and Green TEBAK slideway liner pages show the product-level specification format.
